[UEH-LI] RECAP | A look back at theAcademic Seminar: “International Teamwork and Collaboration”

Recently, the UEH Language Institute (UEH-LI) successfully hosted an Academic Seminar themed “International Teamwork and Collaboration.” The event provided students with highly practical solutions to confidently collaborate and thrive in a multicultural, international environment.

In the era of globalization, teamwork demands more than just specialized knowledge-it requires high adaptability. To help UEHers solve this puzzle, UEH-LI organized the Academic Seminar: “International Teamwork and Collaboration.”

Overcoming Multicultural Barriers

At the seminar, guest speaker Frauke Bender pointed out the core obstacles Vietnamese students face when working in international teams, ranging from language barriers to differences in mindsets and work habits. From there, students were equipped with actionable strategies to proactively work effectively, understand the communication styles of different countries, and respect diversity to minimize conflicts.

Optimizing Teamwork Performance

UEHers were introduced to empathetic communication skills—learning how to deliver clever, assertive, yet constructive feedback, as well as the art of smart conflict management to turn disagreements into catalysts for creativity.

The atmosphere in the hall became electric during the Q&A session, where students actively raised highly practical and contemporary questions. Standard topics included how to handle “free-riders” and secrets for introverts to confidently lead a multinational team.

The seminar concluded with resounding success, equipping UEHers with an open mindset to readily become global citizens. The UEH Language Institute (UEH-LI) would like to express our sincere gratitude to the speaker and all the students who contributed to this invaluable academic space.
